An upscale hospitality professional with a creative background
Joshua Sipkin lives in the Central New Jersey area, not far from New York City. Over the years, his career has taken him on a variety of paths as he has explored his interests and expanded his skill set. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994, after which he spent ten years working in sports writing and media. As an avid sports fan, this was a great opportunity for him to use his degree in a context he was passionate about. He worked for several prominent media outlets, including FOX Sports and NBA.com, and was the site manager for the website dedicated to the New York Mets for several years. Throughout his time, Joshua also earned his Master of Science in Education from Queens College.
In 2015, Joshua Sipkin moved through a few more media writing jobs before discovering his current passion: Hospitality. He has now worked in several restaurants in managerial positions, where he has been involved in successful strategies to increase visits during traditionally slow periods. Joshua has quickly earned a reputation for excelling in building customer relationships and ensuring positive guest experiences. Currently, he is the Assistant General Manager of 1776 by David Burke in Morristown, NJ. He enjoys developing front-of-staff hospitality practices and strives to cultivate an encouraging team culture.
Even in this new industry, Joshua Sipkin still invests time into writing and other creative pursuits. He enjoys cooking in his own home and has developed an interest in food photography. He frequently writes pieces on hospitality, as he enjoys sharing information and strategies with other business people who might benefit. New York City is one of his favorite places to visit, especially after working there for so many years. He not only enjoys visiting the major landmarks, but also just walking around and taking photos of the city that highlight the various aspects of living in this major metropolis.
